Cheers to freedom in its simplest form…

Blooms intoxicating as wine…

Labors of love bring fruit to the vine…

Tiny friend who, at once flew away,

returns when I cry out in dismay,

”Why can’t these dewdrops come into view?

Oh, my goodness, wait,  now there is you!”

Freedom to breathe,

to accept the smallest of miracles

and to return them with gratitiude,

defines balance within existence.

May we see Light and be Light in every moment….

Practically/#Thursday Doors

A practical door, practically a door! Another little wonder in the wonderland of the Atlanta Botanical Garden.

I can’t believe I missed this the first time we went to the gardens. I wonder if they are retired soldiers….

Thursday Doors is a prompt brought to us by Norm Frampton.

Visiting his blog and clicking on the blue frog will take you to other great doors posts!

Pure delight-

veil of oblivion

obscures the world

of curious eyes,

no more you and me,

we blend as one in

ecstatic golden euphoria

that numbs the senses

shatters my defenses,

soul laid bare and

barely aware of time,

our enemy and friend

and thus we pretend

we are are its master

as it marches ever faster,

stealing the future,

clouding the past,

as evening casts

long shadows

where we lay

he ticks his tock,

this bitter clock

called a life,

within its well

hope springs

I gave you all that pain allowed,

wiped every tear and thusly vowed

to keep my tender heart confined,

the unseen chains that I designed

were all that would embrace me,

enfold, protect, encase me.

And yet, somewhere within this cell

there lies the deepest, hopeful well

of adoration, inclination,

burning, churning, yearning-

that you find me and remind me

how it feels to feel again.

Once upon a time…..

In the middle of a noisy, bustling and crowded metropolis, lay a hidden kingdom.  Behind the gates and beyond the woods, in the shadows of the stone garden, a princess was locked into dreamless sleep under the watchful eyes of a fiercely magnificent dragon…..

The megalopolis known as Atlanta
The dragon towers over….
the still, sleeping princess
Ever watchful
he is magnificently terrifying.

Meanwhile, beneath the glare of the midday sun, Poseidon’s daughter sun’s herself in the cool fountain waters as she gazes wistfully into the mists of sweet memory-the ocean and freedom.

Her comfort in the pool where she waits…

Yet her beauty is rivaled by the rising Phoenix, spreading its glorious wings in welcome of the admirers awaiting a small miracle from the kingdom’s most beloved creature.  Beneath its gaze lies the tavern of sustenance and indulgent delights.

Very decent food in the LongLeaf restaurant
Hot rolls and cool beverages, both wonderful

Weary travelers make their way to this oasis constantly….

Venturing deeper into the lush gardens, there appears from mists of the past, a great and treasured beast…..

She whispered of the miracle within the heart of her world.  After traversing winding trails over bridges and and rails, we found the goddess who protects and showers the kingdom with loving tender care.

She cares for its many living wonders with gentle adoration and appreciation….

Behold!  The Green Emperor! Master of the Orchid House.

Beyond the Orchid House lay the tropical rain forest, filled with lush mystery….

And lo and behold there he was… prince!

Well…..he had potential.  As he serenaded me I thought to give him a quick kiss!  Alas….

This was as good as it got.  So we put our heads together and decided our worlds were too different…..

The Zen garden was lovely as well. I made a couple of new friends there too.

And then there was the magic of glass sculpture…oh my!!

Alas it was time to leave the kingdom but we made a map so that we could return again….and again. Weary, but satisfied, we left the magic and wonder with tired feet and full spirits.

If you are ever in Atlanta, take a detour from the hustle and bustle and visit the magical kingdom….

Mellow Free 48/#Thursdaydoors

Hi guys,

I have been a bit absent this week but wanted to share some of my last Free 48 with you and make this a kind of combo post.

Last weekend we made our outing a quest for one of my favorite doughnuts, those tasty treats our reps bring in on Fridays that I can never say no to. NEVER. EVER.  It was a gorgeous Sunday for a drive. Sadly, we got our wires crossed about the hours for that location and it was closed. 😩

It was then closer to brunch than breakfast, so we were off in search of an alternative means to soothe our growling stomachs. The architecture in the area was really amazing and we spotted one little interesting shop after another until my eyes fell on this place!

“I want to eat there!” It was a declaration more than a suggestion.

We had to circle back around a labyrinth of a block to get there but we finally did. As many places as we have lived and visited that has this pizza chain, I never had the chance to eat at the Mellow Mushroom. Of course I took photos of the doors I found and so many other little ‘cutesies’ inside.

The main door to the magical mushroom tour
The restrooms were labeled ‘mels’ and ‘femels’
Now you know who would love this train, don’t you? 😉
This is my first contribution in honor of National Train Day ..and how about that cool VW bus?
I can see where kids would love so many things about this place!

While I still think I make the best pizza in town in my own kitchen, this was pretty good. The Options were fresh and tasty, and we could even do ‘halvesies’….What??

Do you want to see it? 😀

Can you guess which half was mine?

And the ‘coup de gras?’

As we drove back out of town I spotted a real tourist attraction and we were suddenly transported across the ocean to Paris, France!

Well, I guess it’s the closest this gal will likely ever get to the real thing. I thought this replica was way cool, just nestled in a semi hidden eclectic little shopping center right off the main road. I only happened to catch a glimpse from the corner of my eye or might have missed it altogether.

Laissez le bon temps rouler!

The rest of the Free 48 was pretty quiet. How was yours? I hope you all have a beautiful Mother’s Day and brand new Free 48.

Oh, and I do have one more door for you before I say goodnight. This one always catches my attention. It is in one of our office locations. Does it remind you of anything……🙈

Redrum, redrum, redroom…..

Sweet dreams peeps! 😱

Happy  National Train Day, Dan!

This post is brought to you by the Mellow Door Master Norm Frampton. Check out his place for a lot of great doors posts and post a link to your own there. Just give the little blue frog a tickle to be transported to the linky list.

Doors to Imagination

I thoroughly love spending time near the Atlanta BeltLine, so was not disappointed when last week’s work event was held near one of the best areas of it. It was the finale to a vision fundraiser ending with a walk on the BeltLine. I had planned ahead because I had a special little gift for someone who lives there, though we have never met.

Oh! And I did make some new friends! 😀

Oh…what? Yes! My tiny friend and my little gift. I adore the #tinydoors folks and made a special gift to leave for them at my favorite door.

And here is one other for you. This one is so unreachable I have no idea how any one but a real faerie could have put it there!

We had a nice walk down the BeltLine where local artists share a myriad of eclectic designs and grafitti. Hubby spotted this one and we had to get a closer look…

Eeeek!! We need to close that door! Pronto! 😱

What better way to cool off than with a tasty fresh made popsicle from Atlanta’s own #Kingofpops  and if you want an adult version, they make them in their shops. Such imagination and yumminess all in one.  For our event I chose an Orange Cream Pop.

This is our group photo. It was a gorgeous day.

This is for a very devoted Doors Poster. Visit Dan’s blog for some amazing doors!
